sometimes I feel as if I'm split into two:
the immoral and the moral, always running in opposite directions.
What does it truly mean, to be good?
What is the point in being good?

Does "goodness" come from within, from that burning flame you claim to see -
for when I reach inside, my fingers feel the ashes of what once was.

What is the point in feeling good, what is the point in acting good?
Sometimes I feel as if I'll screech to a halt and I'll let
the immoral, the bitter immoral, decide my every breath.

Or am I a mirror, reflecting both the "good" and the "evil"
with scattered light rays descending upon the land?
We don't exist in pure black and white; we are multi-faceted -
Maybe there is no "point" in being good, no levels or battles to win,
so much as a journey that continues with each step.

I was reaching inside for who I was, not who I am,
and I must remember: I am not who I used to be

Does it make more sense to celebrate birthdays just on the same day your birthday's always been, or take into account the difference in date between the day you left where you were before and the date it was when you arrived here?
